The work combines installation, miniature architecture and moving image to explore women’s experiences in different historical periods. The work unifies my interests in feminism and social structures, as well as my interest in how domestic spaces reflect social expectations and how these expectations continue to affect women’s daily life.

This work consists of a video installation and two miniature domestic spaces, a bedroom and a kitchen. The video follows a female shadow puppet travelling from the Qing Dynasty to the present day. When furniture changes with the development of the times, her daily actions remain similar, showing that although society has changed, many of society‘s expectations for women still remain.

The miniature models are made from laser-cut plywood, hand-crafted wooden furniture, copper wire and acrylic paint. The work replaces the traditional roof with copper wire and transparent wire, hanging white cards with various expectations of the Qing Dynasty and modern society for women.

By combining miniature space and images, the work rethinks the relationship between family, history and women's daily life.

After graduating, I hope to gain experience in the creative industries before continuing my studies with a Master’s degree.
