Throughout my degree, I have developed strong technical skills in pattern drafting, cutting, tailoring and historical costume construction, while gaining experience in interpreting designs and transforming them into realised garments. I particularly enjoy the challenge of bringing a design to life through careful construction and attention to detail.

During my final year, I had the opportunity to work on two contrasting live production projects. In the first term, I constructed a Dame dress for Oxford Playhouse’s production of Dick Whittington. This project introduced me to the scale and creativity of pantomime costume, requiring close attention to both design details and practical considerations for performance. During my time working on tech week, I strengthened my communication skills whilst working in a collaborative production environment.

For my final major project, I made three dresses for Annina and Violetta in Hurn Court Opera’s production of La Traviata. Set in the 1930s, the project allowed me to further develop my skills in precision cutting and bias-cut construction while creating garments tailored to both character and performance requirements. The project challenged me to balance historical research and technical accuracy, resulting in costumes that supported the storytelling of the production while showcasing my construction skills.

Across these projects, I strengthened my ability to work independently and collaboratively, solve problems creatively and maintain a high standard of craftsmanship throughout the making process. I am at my best when working on detailed projects that require precision, organisation and a thoughtful approach to construction.

Alongside my studies, I have actively pursued extracurricular opportunities that have helped me develop strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills. I supervised and designed on several student films, the most prominent film being a World War II short Englander, directed by Ben Frere. I pride myself on being reliable, efficient and solutions-focused, and I am always keen to take on new challenges that allow me to continue learning and refining my craft.

After gaining experience through work placements in costume departments on feature films, I hope to build a career in the film industry as a costume maker, with the goal of advancing into a costume supervision role as I continue to develop professionally.
