Theatrixs reimagines theatre as part of everyday life, responding to declining participation in local theatre and the growing loss of shared cultural experiences within communities. As entertainment becomes increasingly individualised and digital, opportunities for people to come together through live performance have diminished, creating a need for more accessible and socially engaging cultural spaces.

Located in the former cinema in Westbourne, Theatrixs keeps culture and community alive through the shared experience of performance while supporting the wider regeneration scheme by preserving the building’s historical character. The space incorporates dining as a central element, using food to connect theatre with new and diverse audiences to improve engagement with live performances.

Theatrixs positions itself not as a competitor to nearby performing arts venues, but as a collaborator that helps promote and strengthen the local cultural ecosystem by introducing new audiences to theatre and encouraging wider participation in the arts. The design draws inspiration from traditional theatre while reinterpreting it to feel new and exciting to its users. The intentions evoke the atmosphere of theatre without replicating it directly, creating an experience that feels familiar yet distinct and innovative.

Following graduation, I plan to pursue employment opportunities within the interior architecture and design industry.
