Throughout my Master's studies, I have integrated my background in BSc Geography to investigate the intersections of space, place, language, and landscape in design. An example of this can be seen below which went on to receive ISTD accreditation.

Increased access to information can make it challenging to distinguish truth amongst the visual noise in the news. During my MA, I explored this through the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) brief on power. The project Hidden Truths explores how power is entangled in communication. Specifically investigating the disconnection between the often clickbait and dramatic media language and Met Office Data.

This project uses typography and hierarchy to express the disconnection/power relations. Text from the media and Met Office is used as the source acting both as a metaphor and archive of hidden truths. The main aim is to expose these hidden truths, using the book to embody this metaphor. The “truth” is deliberately concealed via multiple French Folds, encouraging the reader to actively search out the Met Office summary for the date covered on the previous media page.

Plans after degree

After graduating, I hope to work as a designer within a creative agency where I can further explore my passion for editorial and print design. Additionally, I am keen to work across disciplines, finding methods to continue integrating geographic concepts into design.
