During my time at AUB on BA (Hons) Costume, I have developed my skills in constructing costumes in both a historical and theatrical manner, both to industry standard. Within this, my technical skills have improved, such as machine and hand sewing skills, pattern making, and realising a design.
For my third year, I decided to focus on gaining as much experience as possible through two various projects. During first term, I had the opportunity to make a dame dress for Oxford Playhouse’s 2024 pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty. Through this, I was also given the opportunity to complete a week's work experience on the show during tech week. For my project I made a highly decorated stain glass-inspired dame costume.
For my major project, I decided to improve my menswear skills to keep my skillset well-rounded. I made a tailcoat suit for Hurn Court Opera’s 2026 performance of La Traviata, as well as collaborating with other students on AUB Productions' Still Here, making a bodice and priest tabard.
Plans after degree
I plan to travel for three months and take some time for myself, then I will look for costume-related work.
