Engrained Light | 76 x 56 cm | Acrylic, screen-print and encaustic wax on wooden panels
These five artworks, from the series Engrained Light, were on exhibition as part of the Undergraduate Summer Shows 2025 at Arts University Bournemouth.
The initial inspiration was the image of the reflection of trees in a stream. These artworks were created through a fusion of photography, screen-printing, and painting. The incorporation of encaustic wax adds a sculptural element. The edge-to-edge screen-printing is on plywood with the woodgrain intrinsic to the work. The five iterations share the resonance of the repetition of the same screenprint lens pattern, suggest colours associated with trees across the seasons and with skies suggestive of dawn and sunset, revealing a journey from realism towards abstraction.
Through this reimagined image, the artworks can offer the viewer a deeper appreciation of this natural woodland landscape.
Plans after degree
I plan to further my practice with MA Painting at AUB and to combine this with my Gallery of Grace business, with the sale of originals and limited edition prints, seeking commissions for artworks in cathedrals and churches.
