Hello, I’m Fae – mother of two, creative soul, and unapologetic lover of cheese. Having spent my career working in the worlds of landscape and creativity, undertaking MA Landscape Architecture Studies (Online) at AUB felt like a natural progression. Fitting study around the beautiful chaos of work and family life has allowed me to develop new skills, broaden my thinking and connect with an inspiring community of like-minded people.

My love of nature has always been at the heart of who I am, but becoming a mother strengthened my desire to help future generations experience and benefit from the natural world. This belief quietly drives my passion for landscape architecture and informs my work. I am interested in creating spaces that nurture our connection with nature, whether that means sitting quietly amongst thoughtfully chosen planting or joyfully exploring a hillside in search of a view.

I believe we need our outdoor spaces now more than ever. Through landscape architecture, I hope to create places that encourage people to slow down, reconnect and be restored by the natural world.

Eager to begin my career in landscape architecture, I couldn’t wait until the end of the course to take the next step. I actively sought a graduate role and was fortunate to join Open Spaces, a fantastic practice based in the heart of Essex. Working alongside such a knowledgeable and supportive team has provided me with a strong foundation and invaluable experience during my first 10 months in practice.

I am delighted to say that, alongside my family, we are now embarking on an exciting new chapter as we relocate to Yorkshire. There, I will be joining Smeeden Foreman as a Graduate Landscape Architect, a role I am incredibly excited about. This move represents a new adventure for all of us, both personally and professionally, and one that would not have been possible without the opportunities and confidence gained through my studies at AUB.

I am deeply grateful for the experiences, friendships and knowledge that the course has provided, and I look forward to continuing my journey in landscape architecture while creating meaningful places for people and nature alike.

While not collaborators in the traditional sense, I have been incredibly fortunate to receive inspiration, guidance and sage advice from so many wonderful people throughout my journey. I am especially grateful to my fellow students Rosie Alabaster, Sarah Townsend, Eleni Kazana and Rebecca Crawford for their encouragement and support. 

I would also like to thank all of the tutors who have shaped my learning and development, including Kirsten Tatum, Jo Nedler, Saruhan Mosler, Geoff Whitten and Stephanie Braconnier. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and generosity have been invaluable, and I will always be grateful for the part they have played in my growth as a landscape architect.
