My work explores female identity, body image and women’s mental health through a combination of sculpture and figurative painting. Using handmade, handheld fans constructed from wood and polyester mesh, I paint distorted representations of my own body in ink and a limited colour palette. The fan acts as both a sculptural surface and a symbolic object, representing concealment, vulnerability and self-representation. By contrasting the traditional function of the fan as a tool for hiding with the exposed nude figures painted across its surface, I investigate the complex relationship between visibility, self-image and societal expectations of women. Through personal references and historical research, my work encourages reflection on how the female body is perceived, judged and experienced.

After graduating from AUB, I plan to continue developing my career as a practising artist by expanding the themes and materials explored within my current work. Alongside my personal practice, I am beginning to lead community-based art workshops, creating accessible spaces for people to engage with creativity and self-expression. I believe art has the power to support wellbeing, build confidence and encourage meaningful conversations. Through these workshops, I hope to share the benefits of creative practice with a wider audience, fostering connection and encouraging individuals to explore their own ideas and identities through art. This balance between professional artistic development and community engagement will be an important part of my future career.
