BA (Hons) Costume

Emily Fisher

Since starting my degree at AUB, I have developed a strong passion for tailoring, which became a particular focus of mine. This interest began in my second year when I created a 19th-century tailored coat, and it continued to grow throughout my third year.

I further developed my tailoring skills through various projects, including making two tailored garments for the Diva dance show and, most recently, for my Final Major Project. For this project, I constructed an 18th century-inspired three-piece suit and shirt for Prince Charming, designed by Wayne Martin for the ballroom scene in a pantomime production of Cinderella. I chose this costume because it allowed me to combine traditional tailoring techniques with modern theatrical embellishment. I particularly enjoyed the decorative aspect of the project, which involved intricate hand embroidery and the use of new techniques to achieve a sparkling, stage-ready finish. The costume was tailor-made for BA (Hons) Acting student Oscar Vas.

Plans after degree

I hope to continue my career in costume making/tailoring, working in London.
