The Weight of Words explores the emotional impact of language within female relationships, focusing on love, silence, and the tension between what is spoken and left unsaid. 

Inspired by personal experiences, female friendships, and the letters exchanged between my grandparents during my grandad’s time in the Navy, the project examines how words preserve intimacy and carry emotion over time. Through layering, gathering, wrapping, and pinning, the collection translates emotion into physical form. Lace and lightweight fabrics evoke fragility, nostalgia, and protection, allowing each garment to become a vessel of memory and longing.
