I am a BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design graduate interested in how design can create meaningful connections between people, place and sustainability. My work explores adaptive reuse, material experimentation and community-focused spaces that respond to contemporary social and environmental challenges.

BRED is a speculative adaptive reuse project, located within the historic ruins of Norman House in Christchurch. Responding to the growing issue of bread waste, the project reimagines surplus bread as a valuable cultural, social and material resource rather than a disposable by-product. BRED transforms the site into a community-focused hub where bread is collected, redistributed, transformed and shared through a series of interconnected spaces including a bread exchange, bakery kitchen, workshops, exhibition areas and a seasonal marketplace.

The design introduces lightweight architectural insertions and a flexible canopy structure that activate the historic ruin while preserving its character. Through workshops, communal gatherings, markets and creative material experimentation, visitors engage directly with the circular journey of surplus bread, gaining awareness of food waste and its potential for reuse. By combining heritage conservation, community participation and circular design principles, BRED proposes a new model of social sustainability – one where waste becomes a catalyst for learning, creativity, exchange and collective value.

After completing my degree, I plan to explore work opportunities in both the UK and Malaysia to gain practical experience and continue developing my interests within the design industry. I am eager to learn from different professional contexts, build new skills and broaden my understanding of how design can create positive social and environmental impact. While my focus remains within interior architecture and design, I am also open to opportunities beyond the industry that can contribute to my personal and professional growth.
