Cypriot Soak
Cypriot Soak is my Final Major Project reflecting my positive experiences of the beach.
Since moving with my family to Bournemouth to attend university, I embraced the beach via surfing, walking, sauna and swimming. These activities supported my wellbeing and happiness, reflecting its psychological importance to me. Furthermore, beach holidays evoked my excitement to the seaside, celebrating my joyous memories exploring new resort places.
A special seaside memory explored in my FMP is my mum and stepdad’s wedding in Cyprus, influencing my pink and blue colour palette from Cypriot scenery. The importance of this project is influencing women to embrace the beach to support wellbeing through wearing my resort wear collection. Yet practical to dry into comfortable clothes after sea immersion, the collection can be worn fashionably at the seaside. The collection features integrated ruffles into staple pieces by implementing my complex pattern cutting technique, involving slashing of pattern pieces. Utilising my knit skills, I knitted a swimsuit with shaping details along the bust, inspired from the evolution of swimwear.
