Strongly grounded in domestic aesthetics and employing humble craft techniques, my work explores the subversive power of textiles. It is underpinned by the politics of contradiction, in particular, how my relationship with the Anglican church is mediated by my queer identity. My graduate project explores the internal erosion of the church as an institution, asking who still accesses these spaces and who the community serves, using the symbolism of the temple curtain in Jerusalem from the Bible. As a choral singer, the church has persisted as a prominent part of my life, despite my ambivalence towards religion. My work aims to explore this unique position.
