This is a project with the aim is to create a greater awareness for the issues around child protection and safeguarding through the visual presentation of misunderstood creatures – representing the children who fall victim to abuse that fly under the radar.
I have displayed this through a varied collection of surface samples for interior and exterior application. The intended space for these samples is a social hub, a space providing areas for co-working and social interaction. I have created a balanced material palette using 3D print, digital design, manipulation techniques and hard surface exploration.
My design style is abstract and contemporary. To ensure my theme comes across I have used tactility, layering and moving elements within the project, creating samples that have to be interacted with to gain their full effect, representing the idea that you may have to dig deeper to find what is really going on. Although my theme is of great importance, I wanted to ensure I was creating samples suitable for application. I have used a range of materials, varying in texture, softness and pattern to create a balance, allowing for a calm and comfy environment that also remains contemporary through its exciting use of pattern and colour.
