Inspired by my experience with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), this project explores the emotional connection between humans and objects of comfort, specifically my bed and SAD lamp. These items became symbols of warmth and protection, influencing my design process through fabric, light, and emotional resonance. I translated these feelings into garments using oversized silhouettes, durable textiles, and comforting colours to create garments that shield the wearer from external and internal stress. The collection aims to provide not only physical warmth but also emotional resilience, reflecting my personal journey and transforming a need for comfort into meaningful, protective clothing design.
As a menswear designer, my work centres around creating clothing that offers both emotional and physical comfort. I design oversized garments with vibrant prints that are intended to uplift the wearer. My use of durable, functional fabrics such as waterproof materials and denim reflects a deeper philosophy: these garments are made to protect the mind and body from the demands of the outside world. My work draws inspiration from contemporary streetwear culture, particularly in the way streetwear creates community and self-expression. I explore shape and proportion adding functionality through technical design elements, such as zipped pockets, performance fabrics and adaptable layering.
