Maintain
My project is centred around the fact that skincare is still missing from many men’s daily routines, largely because the modern skincare industry has made it feel far more complicated than it needs to be. Current trends and advertising often promote 5–8+ step routines, creating the impression that effective skincare requires a large number of products, leaving many men feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what they actually need to use. Because of the influence of trends, there has been an increase in cosmetic packaging being produced as well as waste when not recycled properly.
Maintain was created in response as a simplified skincare system designed to encourage men to incorporate skincare into their everyday routine. Most men tend to respond better to systems that feel simple, practical and efficient. Built around the idea that “three is all you need,” it simplifies skincare into three essential steps: cleanse, treat and protect.
The packaging is designed to clearly communicate not only what each product does, but also when to use it, making the routine quick, clear and easy to follow. To reduce waste and avoid products being discarded after use, empty bottles can be refilled at designated refill stations located in nearby cosmetic stores. If a user decides the product is not for them, they also have the option to return it. Returned products are then cleaned, sanitised, refilled and reintroduced for new customers to use. This system helps in reducing unnecessary packaging production and waste, supporting a more sustainable and circular approach to skincare.
