Animation and Moving Image Research Group

The Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) Animation and Moving Image Research Group is led by Professor Paul Ward and includes members of staff, research students and alumni working in animation, film, VFX and other areas. It has a broad scope and seeks to engage with anyone working with moving images – whether as a practitioner or artist, a theorist, historian, or curator. Our members are part of the Bournemouth Film School, located at AUB – the largest film school in the UK outside London.

Areas of interest include, but aren't limited to:

  • Animation and film historiography
  • Moving image production cultures
  • Practice-theory relationships in moving image production
  • Documentary and non-fiction discourses in animation, film and other forms of moving image work
  • Narratology and storytelling
