Every tattoo has a story and these have never been heard before.
With stories from prison, the depths of addiction and recovery rooms – we tell the stories buried under ink and time. They're raw, exquisite, fearless, and uncensored. Every word is written and performed by our outstanding outsider artists.
Expect strong language, uncensored stories and brilliant writing.
Tattoo is a collection of first person stories performed by artists with extraordinary lived experience. A true celebration of unheard voices.
Following a sell-out tour at their theatre at Boscombe Arts Depot and tours to Mast Southampton, The Outsiders Project's production of Tattoo is now on a wider tour and coming to Palace Court Theatre.
Content warning: This production contains themes of a sexual nature, addiction, drugs and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, self harm and suicide.
* Tickets are £10 at concession rate for students, seniors and those on benefits. Standard ticket price is £15.
About The Outsiders Project
The Outsiders Project was set up by Nell Leyshon – novelist, playwright, and deputy chair of Shakespeare’s Globe. It started with one piece of work made for BEAF Festival in 2018. Since then, the company has grown and created multiple performances, toured them to prison and produced publications and exhibitions. They also run weekly workshops and regular scratch events to support their artists, helping them find their voices and creating a welcoming creative community.
This project is supported by Arts Council England, The National Lottery, PHT, The Alpine Fellowship, Sovereign Centre, BEAF, Talbot Village Trust and Recreate Dorset.
