Course: BA (Hons) Illustration

Graduated: 2024

Ethan Ho uses illustration to capture the constantly changing streets and landscapes of Hong Kong, shaping them into his own style. His practice explores environments and characters inspired by everyday life, often filled with humour and vibrant colour. Rooted in his home city, he documents local businesses and neighbourhoods as a way of reconnecting with the city.

Since graduating from BA (Hons) Illustration and returning to Hong Kong, Ethan was determined to contribute to its creative community. Being a part of Hong Kong’s urban sketching community, he was inspired by their dedication to preserving the city’s shifting urban scenes. His work now heavily focuses on the people and places that define its urban landscape, while also drawing attention to its natural environment and the importance of protecting it.

Ethan continues to build on the skills he developed at AUB, where he discovered his passion for mural work while contributing to the Braidley Road Mural, now having painted at the HKWALLS Festival 2026 and across the city. Being featured as one of the live portrait artists at the AUBSU Yard Party, he now actively runs a live portrait booth at various events, most recently the HK Book Fair as well as the Hong Kong Illustration and Creative Show and other local events. Ethan also works closely with the Children's Cancer Foundation Hong Kong as a permanent volunteer, designing game booths and being a portrait artist at their events.

Alongside his creative practice, Ethan completed an MSc in Marketing Management, combining fundamental business knowledge with his creative practice. This mix has helped him shape his identity as an illustrator and grow his personal brand. He’s currently working on new projects including a colouring book, wood‑based artworks and collaborating with clothing manufacturer Loomerang.
