Final year Fashion students Abigail Wall and Jordy Mawhood have won awards at this year’s Graduation Fashion Foundation Awards.
BA (Hons) Fashion student Abigail Wall picked up the Fashion Range Plan Award, while fellow third year BA (Hons) Fashion Branding and Communication student Jordy Mawhood collected the New Fashion Media Award supported by TikTok, while being shortlisted for the Considered Fashion Award.
The pair were among eight AUB students nominated in categories including the Accessories Award Sponsored by YKK, Zandra Rhodes Textile Award, Fashion Digital Portfolio Award Supported by ASOS and the Considered Fashion Award.
Abi, who was also shortlisted for the Zandra Rhodes Textile Award, studied Fine Art before her time at AUB, and with an interest in illustration decided to combine her interests to delve deeper into digital fashion and augmented reality.
Speaking about her work looking at fashion sustainability, Abi said: “Using CLO3d to visualise my architectural collection before production was so exciting. I think we need to be considerate where possible, and digital pattern cutting reduces paper by a significant amount, as well as physical prototypes – not to mention the ease of using this when working from home.”
Jordy Mawhood, who won the New Fashion Media Award supported by TikTok, outlined her plans to continue the development of her award-winning brand architecture work, which uses three brands to make dating apps safer.
Jordy said: “In the future, I plan to continue this project to bring the app to fruition as a usable product that will function as a safety net for all people choosing to do that thing our mothers always warned us about, talking to strangers from the internet, and even more so, meeting up with them.”
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, previous winners of the awards have included AUB Fashion students Olga Petrusewicz, Stephanie Ransom, with fellow graduate Janislav Solovjov also exhibiting his collection at London Fashion Week as part of the Graduate Fashion Foundation event.

We are in awe of all our graduating students this year who have adapted quickly and created thoughtful and accomplished work under the most challenging circumstances, proving just how adaptable and industry-ready they are. For Abi and Jordy to achieve this extra recognition from GFW is a huge honour and very well-deserved.
"This year at GFW AUB showed student work from our Fashion courses in the exhibition space at Samsung KX, the garment showroom, an outdoor exhibition and in the Fred Perry and Earl of East stores at Coals Drop Yard. Our two fashion films screened at the event, and made by second year Fashion Branding and Communication students, can be still be watched online, and all graduating student portfolios are also up on the GFW website."
