Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) graduate, Evelyn Hoskins, has made a triumphant return to the local stage as the hit romantic musical comedy Waitress shows at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre for a limited one-week run.

Evelyn studied BA (Hons) Acting at AUB before launching her professional career with a breakthrough performance originating the role of Thea in the UK premiere of Spring Awakening at the Lyric Hammersmith and Novello Theatre in 2009.

She now reprises her acclaimed role as Dawn in Waitress, a character she previously portrayed to critical acclaim in London's West End at the Adelphi Theatre and across major national tour legs.

Joining a star-studded cast that includes stage and screen veteran Les Dennis, Evelyn performs alongside a world-class ensemble in the production brought to Bournemouth by Barry and Fran Weissler and David Ian.

Based on the beloved 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress features music and lyrics by GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, and choreography by Lorin Latarro.

The story follows Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town who dreams of a fresh start away from her unloving marriage, finding hope through a local baking contest and an unexpected arrival in town.

Evelyn’s versatile career spans stage, television, and international tours. Her extensive theatre credits include title and leading roles in Carrie (Southwark Playhouse), Peter Pan (US Tour), The Secret Garden (Birmingham Rep), Assassins (Watermill/Nottingham Playhouse), Cruel Intentions (Bill Kenwright), Mrs Henderson Presents (Royal Alexandra Theatre, Toronto), and This Is My Family (Sheffield Crucible).

On television, she's widely recognised for her regular role as Shona Wark in BBC’s Casualty and Holby City, as well as appearances in E4’s cult hit Misfits, ITV’s A Confession, and as Liesl Von Trapp in ITV's The Sound of Music Live.

Dr Katarzyna Zaremba-Byrne, Course Leader on BA (Hons) Acting at AUB, comments, “We are immensely proud to see Evelyn returning to Bournemouth as part of such a prestigious, star-studded UK tour.

“Welcoming an alumna back to perform at the Bournemouth Pavilion is a wonderful moment for our entire university community and local theatregoers alike.”

Waitress will continue its limited run at the Pavilion Theatre until Saturday 29 August.
