This exciting course gives young photographers aged 11-15 the chance to learn how to take and edit photos in a fun, engaging and exciting fashion.

This course has been developed for aspiring photographers aged 11-15.

Does my young artist need any qualifications or experience?

No. This is an introductory course, so your young artist doesn't need any previous experience, just buckets of enthusiasm!

What's included in this price?

  • All course materials and resources
  • Everything your young artist will need to take part in the course will be provided by us, including all camera equipment – no hidden costs!

  • Classes are practical, so wear clothes that you don't mind your young artists getting messy.
  • Drinks and snacks for break time and duration of class; please ensure snacks don't contain nuts.
  • It's strongly advised that mobile phones, tablets and other valuables aren't brought to class. Any personal possessions are the responsibility of your young artist and AUB won't be liable for any loss or damage.

About this course

On this course, your young artist will be supported to fully explore their creative talent and future potential as a photographer. They’ll develop the key skills needed to take extraordinary photographs, including getting to grips with the camera controls and the creative possibilities that these can bring to their photos.

This course is perfect for youngsters that are new to photography. It offers project-based classes for anyone wanting to learn photography in a fun, engaging and exciting fashion.

Each week your aspiring photographers will learn a variety of new skills from the basic camera controls through to more advanced techniques whilst building their awareness of the visual elements and components of composition.

Throughout the course your young artists will be guided to understand the technical elements of photography. Taught in easy-to-understand stages, they’ll be encouraged to employ their own creative ideas and personal perspectives to produce both technically proficient and visually exciting images. They’ll also be introduced to the basics of digital post-production using one of the most popular industry-standard software, Adobe Photoshop.

Your young photographers will be expertly led by their tutor through weekly projects, which will include talks and demonstrations delivered in a fun and interactive fashion that provokes interaction, sharing of ideas and collective appraisal of work produced.

At the end of the course your young artist will:

  • Possess improved artistic and photographic skills
  • Understand how to use their camera effectively and efficiently having mastered the controls and settings
  • Be able to use a range of different techniques to capture creative photographs that elevates their images beyond ‘point and shoot’
  • Be the proud owner of a portfolio of photographs that they’ve taken themselves throughout the course and showcases the development of their skills
  • Have an increased understanding of the many creative possibilities photography offers in which to develop their own visual voice
  • Have increased confidence in their own skills
  • Have boosted creativity and imagination
  • Feel inspired by the new skills they've learnt and from sharing ideas with new friends
  • Have the foundations to continue creating beyond this course
  • You can request a certificate to confirm your young artist's achievements, providing they have 100% attendance record. To request a certificate please get in touch with us at academy@aub.ac.uk and confirm name of your young artist and the title of course they've completed
