Foundation Diploma

Beth Allder

For my Foundation final major project, I designed a textiles interiors collection inspired by the shapes and textures found in mould samples observed under a microscope. The colour palette of the collection was inspired by the enlarged colours of the mould under the microscope, which I used across the collection.

I specialised in using digital print and screen-printing techniques to create the fabrics, wallpapers, jesmonite tiles, and beads. Within my project, I researched recent developments into utilising bacterial pigmentation in the textile industry and the positive environmental impact it can have replacing synthetic dyeing methods.
