My background is in ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary. I trained with the Sally Prout School of Dancing where I achieved Level 7 Ballet and Level 6 Tap from the Royal Academy of Dance. I hold a diploma with distinction in Performing Arts covering acting, singing, dancing and scriptwriting. I have recently run classes at a local dance school teaching contemporary and jazz to students aged 4–15 and choreographing routines that they perform at events such as Halloween festivals and Christmas markets.
I have particular interest in exploring the therapeutic value of dance as a creative outlet for less mobile people and those with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s. I have found it really rewarding to have taken part and helped lead classes called Mature Movers and Dancing with Parkinson’s at Pavilion Dance South West.
For my final project, I designed an inclusive app that connects people in rural areas with online fitness classes and communities. My hope is that it allows them to find a level of exercise that helps them feel more agency and control in their lives.
