Medical Care

No matter how big or small the problem, we're here to help

Medical Care

AUB’s Student Services work in partnership with the local Village Surgery.

For appointments at AUB, or at the Village Surgery, please contact the Village Surgery directly on 01202 525252. You'll need to register with the surgery at least 24 hours before your appointment – registration forms are available at Student Services.

If you're an International or EU student, we recommend you read UKCISA’s advice on how the UK medical system works and how to make sure you are covered during your studies.

Medical support as a student

We strongly encourage you to register with a local doctor as soon as you start your studies with us to make sure that you can see a doctor quickly if you fall ill or need routine medical care during the course of your studies.

AUB’s Student Services work in partnership with the local Village Surgery to provide a dedicated medical surgery each week. The Nurse Practitioner holds a surgery on campus on Tuesday lunchtimes. For appointments at AUB, or at the Village Surgery, please contact the Village Surgery directly on 01202 525252. You will need to register with the surgery at least 24 hours before your appointment.

If you are an International or EU student we recommend you read UKCISA’s advice on how the UK medical system works and how to make sure you are covered during your studies.

You can register with the local Village Surgery on the Campus Doctor website.

Alternatively, you can register at any other medical practice by going along with your medical card.

Many dentists only accept private paying patients, and as dentistry fees can be expensive you may prefer to find an NHS dentist if at all possible. To find the nearest NHS dentist to you, please take a look at the NHS website and enter your postcode.

If you know you'll have to pay for a lot of NHS prescriptions, it may be cheaper to buy a prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) – effectively a prescription "season ticket". Find out more information about PPCs on the NHS website.

To reduce the spread of flu viruses and COVID-19, we advise our community to maintain good hygiene practices on campus. We advise washing your hands regularly and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

Mask wearing on campus is optional, however we strongly advise wearing one if you or a member of your household is showing signs and symptoms of flu or COVID-19.

If you're experiencing flu like symptoms or you don't feel well enough to work or study, we advise that you stay at home and take a COVID-19 test. You can purchase an LFD test kit at your local pharmacy.

If you test positive for COVID-19 we advise you to stay home and avoid contact with other people for five days after your positive test result. We advise working from home until you are feeling better.

For more detailed information and guidance about COVID-19 please read the UK government guidance on COVID-19.
