Next Steps

We're delighted to have you join us at Arts University Bournemouth, and hope that your time here will be rewarding, challenging, creative and enjoyable.

Here to help you get settled in

Once you've met all of your offer conditions and enrolment opens we'll send you two emails.

  • One email will invite you to complete Online Enrolment. This will require you to upload a passport-style photograph which will be used to create your AUB Student ID card. You'll also need to upload scans or photographs of your identification. You will need to complete Online Enrolment as soon as possible – you can't start your course until you have completed Online Enrolment.
  • The second email will contain instructions on how to set up your AUB student login. Once completed this will give you access to your AUB email account, the myAUB app (where your timetable will appear) as well as access to the free software listed below and discounted hardware from Apple and Dell.
  • Online Enrolment will open on 8 September 2023. If you haven't received emails from the AUB Admissions team about your application by this date, please contact admissions@aub.ac.uk ASAP to ensure that your application has your correct email address. If you have any queries about your Online Enrolment, please contact studentrecords@aub.ac.uk.

Before you arrive

Here's a handy list of things to do before you arrive to help make your first weeks run smoothly. Check out the useful contacts list at the bottom of this page if you need help with any of these. Make sure you’ve:

  • Arranged for somewhere to live during your first year.
  • Applied for your Student Loan (if applicable) or arrange funds to pay your tuition fees privately.
  • Checked your vaccinations are up to date.
  • Checked that you can log in to the AUB Applicant Portal.
  • Joined the AUB Applicant Group on Facebook to find your future coursemates.
  • Completed (if applicable) disability disclosure in the AUB Applicant Portal.
  • Prepared for your course – buy any required equipment, do some pre-course reading or complete any pre-course projects (if applicable) – all this info can be found on our course pages.
  • Prepared your photo for your AUB Student ID card (you’ll need a .jpg format image of your head and shoulders, ideally with a smile and resized to 150*180 pixels)
  • Uploaded your photo for your AUB Student ID card on the AUB Applicant Portal.
  • Applied for your visa (if applicable).
  • Followed AUBSU on socials to stay up to date with events and activities.
  • Checked that you have the right ID documents photographed/scanned for online enrolment (see the Enrolling online section for more details).
  • Completed your online enrolment through the AUB Applicant Portal.
  • Set up your AUB IT login to access your email and timetable.
  • Downloaded the myAUB app.

You don’t have to tell us about your disability, but it can be useful if you do. You’ll have access to more support and help for your studies, as well as possible extra funding. You may also be invited to Transition events before your course starts to help you get settled.

Simply complete the online disability disclosure in the AUB Applicant Portal before your course starts, or in MyAUB at any point in your course.

Visit our Disabled Students page to find out more about disability support.

If your offer is still conditional, you still need to send us your results (unless we get them from UCAS). Even if you haven’t met the exact conditions of your offer it’s important that we have your results so we can make a decision – we might still offer you a place if we’re confident you have the potential to succeed.

If you applied to us using UCAS

UCAS will receive some exam results directly from exam boards and send them on to us. This includes results for:

  • A/S, A levels and EPQs, from AQA, WJEC, Eduqas, OCR, CCEA, Cambridge International and Pearson
  • Welsh Baccalaureate
  • BTEC (including BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design)
  • OCR Cambridge Technicals
  • International Baccalaureate
  • SQA Scottish Highers, Advanced Highers, HNCs and HNDs
  • Access to HE Diplomas
  • T Levels
  • Irish Leaving Certificates
  • UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Diploma, Level 3 Diplomas and Extended Diplomas
  • Level 3 qualifications from VTCT, NCFE and some others

UCAS have some more details on their website. If your qualifications aren’t on this list (including GCSE results), or you applied to us using the application form on our website, then you’ll need to send evidence of your results to our Admissions team directly.

Sending your results

Please email your proof of results to admissions@aub.ac.uk Don’t forget to include your name, course and AUB ID number on the email so we can find your application.

In order to process your results we need clear scans/photographs that show your full name, the qualification name, the subject studied and the result grade and the name of your exam centre. We can't accept an email from you with your results listed - we need a photo or scan of your certificate/transcript (or if you’ve only just got your results, we can accept your results slip instead).

English language qualifications

If your offer conditions ask for IELTS or another accepted English language qualification, we’ll need those to be sent through too. Please make sure you’re taking the right test for your AUB course – there’s a handy list on our website.

If you have any questions about our accepted English language qualifications then get in touch – please email the Admissions team, with the subject line: “English language qualifications”.

There are two elements to your enrolment at AUB. You'll be required to:

  • Complete Online Enrolment before you arrive.
  • Attend a Face-to-Face Registration session when you arrive.

For your Online Enrolment, you'll need:

  • A head and shoulders photo of you (like a passport photo) for your AUB Student ID Card.
  • Scans or photographs of your identification. The identification we require depends on your nationality and visa status.

Online enrolment will be available on your AUB Applicant Portal so make sure you know your login details. If you have any problems logging in check out our Applicant FAQs on our Apply page or if you haven't received emails from us about your application, then please contact admissions@aub.ac.uk ASAP for help.

For your Face-to-Face Registration we'll need you to bring along your identification in person. Student ID cards are produced once we've seen the correct documentation from you, and should be able to be collected during your Face-to-Face Registration session.

UK students:

Please have photographs or scans of one of the following options of ID:

  1. Full valid passport
  2. Photo ID (e.g. driving licence) plus either correspondence from Student Loans Company/Student Finance England or original birth/adoption certificate

A driving licence alone won't be accepted without the correct accompanying documents as listed in option two.

If you’ve taken a loan out with Student Finance England, you’ll need to complete the Online Enrolment before we can confirm your registration. Once completed, SFE will release your maintenance loan to you on the first day of term.

Students with settled or pre-settled status:

Please have the following:

  1. Photograph or scan of your full valid passport
  2. Your Immigration status “Share Code”

Visa students:

If you’re studying on a visa you will need all of the following to enrol online:

  1. Full valid passport
  2. Visa documentation
  3. All original qualification certificates

IT information

Every AUB student is able to access the following software for free:

  • Microsoft Office 365 – including 500GB of cloud storage with Microsoft OneDrive
  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Autodesk Suite
  • LinkedIn Learning Platform training courses

Students on some of our courses will also be provided with additional software and/or access to “remote access” to high specification resources where the course involves using large files or render computing.

AUB has arranged discounts on laptops and other hardware from Apple and Dell for our students. If you are planning on investing in a new computer to support your studies then we recommend that you wait until you have set up your AUB IT login so that you can take advantage of these discounts.

You can access these discounts by signing up to the following websites using your AUB email address:

This course uses Apple computers.

You're encouraged to bring their own laptop and mobile device to AUB to support online learning, collaboration and communication whilst at university.

Before your arrival and during your first week we will be in touch to check that you have access to the hardware, software and internet connection required to take part in your course and to let you know what support is available.

This course uses both Apple and Windows computers.

The nature of the course means that you may need to use your computer on and off-campus. We recommend that a laptop would be better than a desktop.
