Study Abroad and Exchange
AUB offers students the opportunity to explore their creative practice while broadening their horizons.
Semester Study Abroad courses are for students and professionals who wish to spend time abroad, developing their creative skills and gaining credits towards their university degree, but don't necessarily want to spend 2-3 years in another country.
The Make-up artist is an important member of a performance, fashion, film or television creative team and you will work alongside students in other subjects to create ‘live’ collaborative projects.
Through practical design, make-up and hairstyling you will explore concepts of spectacle, the fantastic and transformation. You will not only gain an understanding of the work of the make-up artist but also how this role integrates with others in the creative process.
Depending on which term you choose to study with us, you will discover the techniques and materials used in professional FX workshops, whilst exploring and developing your own originality as an artist. You will look at the history of prosthetic development in film and Silicon Plat-Gel prosthetics and learn more about make-up products. Building upon your technical skills you will begin preparing silicon moulds and part-casts ready for sculpting prosthetics and explore the process of developing prosthetic sculptures into prosthetic pieces. You will also learn how to use specific products and develop colouring and stippling techniques to integrate prosthetics within your make-up design.
Portfolios are required from all prospective candidates who wish to do a Semester Study Abroad course at the Arts University. The portfolio’s purpose is to show us how you communicate and translate ideas visually. Your portfolio will be reviewed by the course leader and a panel who will determine the most appropriate year of study in the course for each candidate.
Other types of programmes, such as bespoke courses are also available. For more information or to apply for a course contact us on +44 1202 363824 or email studyabroad@aub.ac.uk
