Semester Study Abroad courses are for students and professionals who wish to spend time abroad, developing their creative skills and gaining credits towards their university degree, but don't necessarily want to spend 2-3 years in another country.
Animation is everywhere, but it starts with skilled traditional 2D animation drawing. Depending on the term you wish to study with us; this course will introduce you to the disciplines and skills to get you animating, with the opportunity to investigate the relationship between theory and practice within Animation Production. You will be introduced to the visual and technical language of animation and explore key areas of the drawing that are central to animation filmmaking. Students will work in teams to develop personal portfolios and many produce award-winning graduate films.
You will be challenged to explore a variety of drawing, painting mediums and techniques with computer-generated production techniques closely linked to hand-drawn animation assignments to complement your studies. You will be encouraged to develop traditional drawing skills as well as take risks in exploring unfamiliar approaches with unexpected outcomes. The course allows you to develop your approach to communicative storylines, paying attention to the range of ways in which animation communicates its stories and meanings. It will build upon your knowledge and skills as you develop your confidence and vision.
