Discounts
AUB Alumni – progression discount
If you're an undergraduate Alumnus you may be eligible to receive one of the following discounts:
- 20% tuition fee discount when progressing from undergraduate to postgraduate study.
- Academic scholarship – 33% tuition fee discount when progressing from undergraduate to postgraduate study with a first-class or 2:1 honours degree.
AUB Foundation, Study Abroad or Summer Course (in excess of £1,500) students – progression discount:
- May be eligible to receive a 10% tuition fee discount when progressing to MA.
These discounts don't apply to Master of Architecture students.
Non-AUB Alumni
Applicants who hold a 2:1 degree or above may be eligible to receive a 10% tuition fee discount of the cost of an MA award.
Applicants from a non-degree background with relevant/equivalent work experience may be eligible to receive a 10% tuition fee discount of the cost of an MA award.
These discounts don't apply to AUB Alumni or Master of Architecture students.
Student Finance England
Postgraduate students may be able to apply for a postgraduate loan through Student Finance England. Master of Architecture students may be eligible to apply for a Tuition Fee loan through Student Finance England.
UK Government Postgraduate Loans Scheme
From 2016/17, the Government provide a loan for postgraduate MA study. The Postgraduate Loan (PGL) will be paid to the student as a contribution towards Tuition Fees, living costs and other course costs.
What you need to know:
- Loans will be available up to a maximum value of £10,906 for 2019/20 and paid directly to the student in three equal instalments per academic year, up to a maximum of two years
- The loan is available for students starting their course in the academic year 2016/17 or later (i.e. on or after 1 August 2016)
- Loans will be available to UK Nationals (and individuals with settled status in the UK)
- Students under 60 will be eligible for MA loans
- Loans are available all our MA programmes, excluding M.Arch. - students studying full-time, part-time may be eligible
- In order to qualify for a part-time MA loan, you need to be studying at least 50% intensity of an equivalent full-time student in the first year of the course
- Loans are non-means tested
- Students who already hold an MA qualification (or an equivalent or higher level qualification) will not be eligible for PGL. This applies even if the previous qualification was entirely self-funded and/or achieved outside the UK
- Lower level qualifications such as Postgraduate Diplomas or Postgraduate Certificates of Education will not affect eligibility for PGL
- Repayments will be income-contingent and made concurrently with undergraduate loans. Rates will be set at 6% of annual income over £21,000
- Interest will accrue at a rate of RPI + 3% on all outstanding balances

Channel Islands and Isle of Man
Students from the Island attending full-time higher education course at Arts University Bournemouth are entitled to apply for means-tested funding.

A few AUB bursaries may be available to Island students who are undertaking a postgraduate award (either taught MA or research degree).
Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales
If you normally live in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, you can follow the links below to find out what funding support is available to you.
The support available varies, so it’s important that you check the correct country.
Northern Ireland
Students who normally live in Northern Ireland may receive financial support for university from the Northern Ireland Executive.

Scotland
Students who normally live in Scotland may receive financial support for university from the Scottish Government.

Wales
Students who normally live in Wales may receive financial support for university from the Welsh Assembly Government.

International/EU
International Scholarships

These are awarded for every year of your course, giving you financial support throughout your time studying with us. AUB offers scholarships of up to £5,000 for Master’s level study. In addition to this, tuition fee discounts related to early payment of fees are available for international students on all full-time courses (including Foundation and Undergraduate), contact us for further details.
A number of external scholarships are open to international students applying to Arts University Bournemouth for Master’s level awards. Please note that these scholarships are extremely competitive and require the demonstration of outstanding achievement in the field of the creative arts. Students interested in applying for external scholarships should contact the international office for further details.
Loans for American Students
Students from America will be pleased to know that United States Federal Loans are available for you to study at Arts University Bournemouth, just as they would be if you were studying in the US as AUB has been authorised to certify applications.

To make things as easy as possible for you, we have two online payment gateways to help you pay any outstanding fees.

EU and EEA nationals starting a course after 1 August 2021
The majority of students from the EU and EEA will be assessed as ‘International (overseas)’ fee payers. The exceptions to this will be if you have protected rights under the EU Withdrawal Agreement, the EEA EFTA Separation Agreement, or the Swiss Citizens’ Rights Agreement and you meet the relevant residency requirements.
