Foundation
Unlike standard Undergraduate degree fees, the tuition and registration fee for Foundation courses is dependent on your age on 31 August of the year that your course commences and whether you’re a UK/EU or International Student.
Foundation Fees
Home
If you're under 19 and a new students, you'll not have to pay tuition fees or a registration fee. For new student over the age of 19, the tuition fee for the course in 2021/22 will be £5,421 (full time) per annum.
EU
EU students starting in the 2021/22 academic year onwards, will be charged Overseas rates unless their fee assessment – rules still to be confirmed – indicates that they can pay the Home rate.
EU students along with other Overseas students may be eligible for scholarships, bursaries and fee waivers which may be deducted from the Overseas fee payable.
Channel Island and Isle of Man
If you're a Channel Island or Isle of Man student you'll have to pay tuition fees and a registration fee.
International (Non-EU)
If you're an International student you will have to pay tuition fees and a registration fee. Please note, there is no registration fee for the International Foundation Diploma.

Student Loans
- If you're under 19 you will not be eligible for a student loan as this course is classified as further education.
- If you're 19 and over you may be able to apply for a loan to fund these fees and there are no upfront tuition fees to pay for these students. This could be funded by Advanced Learning Loans, information can be found on the GOV.UK website.
Please be aware there is no maintenance loan available for Further Education Applicants. The Advanced Learner Loan will only cover tuition fees.
16-19 Bursary Fund and Learner Support Fund
If you have lived in the UK, EU or EEA for at least 3 years, The 16–19 Bursary Fund and the Learner Support Fund may be able to support you whilst you study.
The 16–19 Bursary Fund and the Learner Support Fund for students over 19. All sources of funding are based upon your household income. Please note that funds are limited and eligibility does not guarantee that funding will be available.

Channel Island and Isle of Man
Students from the Islands are subject to different funding arrangements and support to mainland UK students.
Guernsey
The state of Gurney offers higher educations student grants to help with the cost of tuition fees, living and travel. The amount of funding available depends on a number of factors – including an assessment of your parents’ income.
Bursaries may also be available to independent students who have no support from parents. To find out more, please visit the Gurnsey Government website.
Jersey
The state of Jersey offers funding for higher education students to help with living costs and tuition fees. The amount of funding available depends on an assessment of your parents’ incomes or, if you’re an independent student, your own household income.
The amount of funding you can receive for tuition fees also depends off what type of course you’re taking and where you’re taking it. Find out more on the Jersey Government website.
Isle of Man
Students from the Isle of Man are not eligible for a loan from the UK Student Loans Company, but the Isle of Man government offers higher education students a grand (Student Award) to help with living cost and tuition.
The amount of funding you can receive is dependent on your parents’ incomes or, if you’re an independent student, your own household income, as well as the type of course your taking and where you're taking it. Find out more on the Isle of Man Government website.
Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales
If you normally live in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, you can follow the links below to find out what funding support is available to you.
The support available varies, so it’s important that you check the correct country.
Northern Ireland
Students who normally live in Northern Ireland may receive financial support for university from the Northern Ireland Executive.

Discounts
International students who pay their Foundation Studies course tuition fees in full before 1 August preceding the start of the course will receive a 10% discount.
International students who pay their International Art, Design and Media Intensive (with or without English) course tuition fees in full before 1 December preceding the start of the course will receive a 10% discount.

American students are eligible to apply to the US Department of Education’s Direct Loans Programme as Arts University Bournemouth has been authorised to certify applications. Full details of this can be found in Loans for American Students. Please note, the loan is not available to International Foundation Diploma applicants.
Norwegian students are eligible for financial support from The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, administered by Lanekassen, which provides student loans and stipends for higher education. Arts University Bournemouth is on the list of UK institutions where students are eligible for supplementary funding (Tilleggsstipend). Icelandic students can borrow loans via The Icelandic Student Loan Fund (LÍN). Visit the LÍN website for more information about Icelandic student loans.
