Chloe Roux Scrivener

First and foremost, I would say that I am a milliner. I trained and worked for haute couture milliner Philip Treacy and the Queen’s milliner Philip Somerville, as well as being a milliner at Angels, the costumiers for television, film and the theatre. I have also spent a large part of my professional career working as a lecturer in millinery, fashion and textiles, teaching at FE and HE levels, including London College of Fashion and Arts University Bournemouth. I have a fully equipped millinery studio, where I teach 1:1 and 1:2 bespoke workshops. Whilst teaching I continue to work on private commissions for clients, making one off bespoke women's headpieces and/or hats to complement their outfits.

My passions are drawing, designing, working closely with colours and a broad range of textile techniques. For me, millinery encompasses all of these and much more. The reason I think I found this to be my medium was because it brings together all these different elements, its sculptural art, but with a purpose. It must fit a specific brief.

During my MA, I focused on the 1920s era and created three hats, a digitally printed re-creation of a beaded flapper dress and a cape using a range of textile techniques.
