Design; Disruption; Divergence – schools competition

Design; Disruption; Divergence – schools competition

Step into the world of Design; Disruption; Divergence at TheGallery, Arts University Bournemouth, where you can explore alternate realities, dive into different histories, and face futuristic possibilities.

We challenge you to create a digital or physical artefact inspired by the themes or artworks in the exhibition. Your piece should explore the relationship between humans, machines, and the future of creativity.

Feel free to use AI in your work, either as a tool to bring your concept to life or as a theme to spark your research. We'd recommend Adobe Firefly as an AI programme for educational use.

We welcome submissions from all creative fields and look forward to seeing how you, as the next generation of artists and designers, navigate this new digital landscape.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 24 April 2025 during our exhibition closing event – the panel discussion Troubling AI.

Entrants must be school or college students aged 16-18. This competition isn't open to current Undergraduate or Foundation students at a university or college institution.

The prizes

The winner of the competition will win a free space on the Creative Futures in Art and Design for Further Education Course for students aged 14-17 years, as part of the AUB Academy Summer School Series. This prize is to the value of £369.00.

OR the winner could choose:

A 50% discount on a place on one of our full-time 2-Week Summer (Residential) Courses* for students aged 15-18 years. The winner will be able to choose from a selection of creative disciplines. This prize is to the value of £849.50.

* The original fee for this course is £1,699.00. This prize option doesn't include accommodation, catering or any other cost associated with the course – these will cost extra.

The winner and first and second runners-up will have their digital creative artefact featured as part of the Design; Disruption; Divergence online virtual exhibition, displayed on Thursday 24 April 2025.
