This course has been developed for aspiring modelmakers and 3D artists aged 12-15.

Does my young artist need any qualifications or experience?

No. This is an introductory course, so your young artist doesn't need any previous experience, just buckets of enthusiasm!

What's included in this price?

  • All course materials and resources
  • Everything your young artist will need to take part in the course will be provided by us – no hidden costs!

  • Classes are practical, so wear clothes that you don't mind your young artists getting messy
  • Drinks and snacks for break time and duration of class; please ensure snacks do not contain nuts
  • It's strongly advised phones, tablets and other valuables are not brought to class. Any personal possessions are the responsibility of your young artist and AUB will not be liable for any loss or damage

About this course

This course has been specially developed for young modelmakers or lovers of 3D creations that are taking their first steps into the vast and exciting world of modelmaking and 3D design.

Throughout the course our budding modelmakers will receive valuable and specialist insight into modelmaking and the many varied opportunities available within it. Each eight-week term offers brand-new projects providing your young artists the chance to experiment with a wide range of materials and gain confidence with making and creating unique work.

Throughout the course, your budding modelmakers will receive valuable and specialist insight into the world of modelmaking, and the many varied opportunities available within it.

Each week your young artists will learn a variety of new skills in modelmaking and 3D design using industry-standard specialist equipment, materials and techniques. Your young artists don’t need to already be expert makers, all we ask is that they come with enthusiasm for learning new things and creative ideas.

Your young designers will be expertly guided by their course tutor, Jessica Tipper, through set exercises each week, alongside demonstrations and presentations of prepared examples from sculpting, casting, moulding and much, much more.

  • Industry level techniques and skills to produce 3D models
  • Experiment and explore a wide variety of creative materials
  • How to use a range of hand tools safely and appropriately
  • Sculpting
  • Moulding and casting
  • Design techniques to turn 2D designs into 3D reality
  • Explore CAD and laser cutting

At the end of the course, your young artist will:

  • Possess improved artistic and design skills
  • Be able to turn their 2D designs into 3D reality using a range of new skills and techniques specific to the world of modelmaking
  • Have a sound understanding of the modelmaking industry and the opportunities within it
  • Possess the knowledge and skills to work with a range of modelmaking materials, including materials used within the film and television industry, architectural modelmaking, theatre productions, shop window displays and more
  • Have increased confidence in their own skills
  • Have boosted creativity and imagination
  • Have the foundations to continue creating beyond this course
  • You can request a certificate to confirm your young artist's achievements, providing they have 100% attendance record. To request a certificate please get in touch with us at shortcourses@aub.ac.uk and confirm name of your young artist and the title of course they've completed
