Beginners or anyone with some experience who want to refresh or develop their skills further.

None – this is an introductory course. We have no formal academic entry requirements for our short courses.

About this course

On this cutting-edge course, you'll push boundaries. You'll gain a solid understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential as a tool for creative artistic expression. What you learn will empower you to incorporate AI into your creative processes in a positive way and ultimately give you the tools to create truly revolutionary and unique artwork.

No matter what you specialise in – fine art, photography, graphic design or illustration, to name a few – across 10 weeks, you’ll learn about the possibilities of AI-driven inspiration and how to produce unique artwork that can inspire or blend with your own.

By the end of this course, you'll have gained valuable insights into the integration of AI in the creative arts, developed practical skills to apply generative AI, and produced unique artworks that blend human creativity with artificial intelligence.

This course aims to empower artists to embrace the possibilities offered by AI and contribute to the exciting and evolving field of AI-driven creativity.

  • An introduction to AI, including history, concepts, and its impact on the creative arts
  • Exploring how AI can be used in various art forms
  • Understanding the principles behind machine learning algorithms
  • Exploring and examining open-source AI tools
  • Exploring the potential of generative models in creating art
  • Appreciation of interactive and immersive art installations
  • Introduction to AI tools and software platforms for artists
  • Understanding the impact of AI on society, privacy, and responsible use in creative arts

At the end of the course you'll:

  • Have improved understanding and confidence when using AI to influence and enhance your own creative work

  • Showcase your final artworks with your peers

Will I be assessed?

No, there is no formal assessment. As the course progresses your tutor will measure your overall performance and offer essential guidance and feedback so you know how you're getting on.
