Study Abroad and Exchange
AUB offers students the opportunity to explore their creative practice while broadening their horizons.
Semester Study Abroad courses are for students and professionals who wish to spend time abroad, developing their creative skills and gaining credits towards their university degree, but don't necessarily want to spend 2-3 years in another country.
This course allows you to take your next step towards becoming a creative architect. You will work in a design studio based arts university where everyone shares your interest in different forms of making and the way we live in our world. You will experiment with architectural design, including many different media, such as drawing, photography, printmaking, model making, video and electronic media.
Depending on which term you decide to study with us, you will explore the issues of building in the local urban context through architectural intervention projects. Alongside the design of a public urban building, various technical and environmental issues will be introduced. Theory and history will inform your understanding of the unique cultural context of the region.
The course has strong links with local architectural practices and RIBA Dorset, providing opportunities to meet and visit local studios and stay at the forefront of the discipline. A particular interest of the course lies in the relationship between ideas and practice within architecture and the broader context of designing and making material culture.
Portfolios are required from all prospective candidates who wish to do a Study Abroad course at the Arts University. The portfolio’s purpose is to show us how you communicate and translate ideas visually. Your portfolio will be reviewed by the course leader and a panel who will determine the most appropriate year of study in the course for each candidate.
Other types of programmes, such as bespoke courses are also available. For more information or to apply for a course contact us on +44 1202 363824 or email studyabroad@aub.ac.uk
