Personally, I Wouldn’t Have Forgotten
Visually, Personally, I Wouldn’t Have Forgotten shows noisy, painterly effects that were made from both physical and digital manipulation, disrupting the materiality of the found time-based footage, exhibited as two-channel projections, while its nature highlights the process of experimentation itself. The establishment of this piece was centred around 'allowing' the equipment to speak for itself, defining its outcome.
This piece expresses a sense of nostalgia and reminiscing of a past time, much like the act of flicking or looking through a photo album. This has been reimagined to represent this notion in a fast-paced currency, indicating that sometimes it is hard to remember events and how 'everything' can blur into one.
The projections express distorted imagery that impacts the viewer, as it toys with the grasp of a concrete narrative and perception; the idea of a linear perspective is subverted and expresses a compilation of multiple perspectives that coexist in a singular frame. Additionally, the auditory elements of this piece consists of two separate soundtracks, one that specifically aligns with the projections rhythm and the latter that 'speaks' directly to the audience, forcing the viewer to become a medium, whilst acting as a feedback delay, echoing essences from the main speaker.
