Sophie Shields
During Sophie's final year at university, she played the roles of Malca (Malcom) in Shakespeare's Macbeth, directed by Rohan Gotobed; and Miss Pettigrew in The Ballad Of Maria Marten, written by Beth Flintoff and directed by Luke Kernaghan. Then finally, playing Peter Quince in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Aileen Gonsalves.
Through her time at AUB, Sophie has discovered her love and dedication towards Shakespeare's words and hopes to build on this adoration by seeking work that allows further opportunity to play within the worlds he has written.
Plans after degree
After Sophie graduates, she will be attending the National Youth Theatre's senior summer course and then hopes to soon plant her creative roots in Brighton. She wants to ensure she lives somewhere that allows her to collaborate with an active arts community, much like university has allowed her to.
She also wishes to develop her short play, It Is All Around Me, written and devised by herself and Elsie Cairns, and with that, continue to establish her connection with acting on stage, as she believes theatre is at the core of where her passion for the arts lies.
