During my time studying BA (Hons) Costume at AUB, I have developed my sewing skills and discovered a passion for the precision involved in tailoring. I have now completed four costumes since second year that have improved and used my tailoring skills.
During third year, my first project was tailoring a women’s suit inspired by a suit from the fashion house Lilli Ann, which was popular in the 1950s. I constructed a corset, bum pad, skirt and jacket to complete the look.
In between my first and final project in final year, I collaborated with a fellow AUB student and tailored a coat for the character Napoleon. Part of the construction for the coat was the gold work embroidery. I created a repeat design based off Napoleon's own gold work before sending it off to be separately embroidered for me to appliqué onto the coat.
For my final project at university, I was inspired by one of my favourite costumes: one worn by Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. To create this costume, I constructed her trousers, underskirt, cape and jacket.
Plans after degree
After AUB, I hope to work in the film and television industry to bring more great characters to life.
