Molly Brown
Molly has an interest in wigs, hair and make-up for the film and television industry, and her work displays a wide range of skills that she has developed throughout her degree. Many of her projects have explored different outcomes of wig making, postiche and styling, from realistic to fantasy. She also has experience in SFX make-up and prosthetics, which can be seen in the creative character transformation explored through major project.
Aos sí – A creature make-up based on Irish folklore and the banshee. This is a multi-piece foam latex prosthetic application. It is accompanied by a hand-knotted wig with synthetic hair.
Dystopia – A character for a film context that features hand-knotted postiche and a partial wig, using yak and human hair. The hairpiece has been dyed and cut to create the illusion of longer hair on the model.
Bird of Paradise Georgian wig – Knotted with synthetic hair and contains a wire cage for support.
Plans after degree
Following the completion of her degree, Molly has plans to be a make-up trainee and artist for this field, already gaining experience as a make-up designer on grad film Eyes, Front. However, she also has an enthusiasm for wig making and is pursuing the development of these skills.
