Katie Evans

During my time at AUB, I have had the chance to work across multiple areas of performance design.

I had the opportunity to work as the set designer on the AUB Production of Thérèse, and enjoyed the process of watching my design come to life. I also had the chance to design the shared end-of-year exhibition space for BA (Hons) Design for Costume and Performance and BA (Hons) Make-up for Media and Performance. I have enjoyed developing my costume design skills, which I was able to do while co-designing costumes for the graduate film Ring Eclipse, set in a dystopian future where people are reliant on oxygen tanks and masks to survive.

I have loved working on hypothetical projects, which allowed me to really push the boundaries with my designs. These include a set design for a version of A Midsummer's Nights Dream, set in an abandoned swimming pool, reflecting themes of order and chaos while leaning into the comedic aspect of the play, as well as 1960s-inspired costume designs for a stage version of James and the Giant Peach, where I designed and created my own digital fabric prints inspired by the characters' semiotics, as well as the patterns and textures of the insects themselves.

Plans after degree

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at AUB. I intend to continue to develop my approach to the design process while studying an MA in Performance Design.
