Throughout my three years at AUB, I have prioritised developing my knowledge and skills in professional costume making. I enjoy researching the historical context for the costumes I am creating and using this to inform my making practices in a historically accurate way.
During my final term, I had the pleasure of working on the production La Casa Nova, making a 1700s Robe à la Française for the character Cecilia. I enjoyed this thoroughly since I had never produced such a detailed and large-scale costume before.
For my previous term I had the opportunity to practice making multiple costumes with a short turn around as part of a team which helped my professional development especially having to fit costumes to dancers' specifications rather than actors. Adapting my creations to best suit the individual helps me feel more well-rounded as a professional going into industry.
I’m excited to see what the future holds and aim to pursue lots of creative endeavours with my main goal always being to produce high-quality pieces and costumes made to fit people and allow them to feel comfortable as themselves.
