We as humans focus on moving past and through the land, spending very little time within it. My work focuses on slowing down and returning to a society framed around working with the land, something largely ignored after the shift from reproduction to production.
Within this work, my aim is to consider re-enchanting the world, an idea brought forward by Silvia Federici, in the hopes that we can not only learn from past systems, but improve upon them and move away from a patriarchal and capitalist society. I hope this is something this work could help in a small part to bring about, by prompting the audience to become aware of the Right To Roam movement and the important work they are doing to promote land access and to combat the enclosure act, which is the first step in enabling us to live with the land – by having access to it.
