Fault: Unearthing the Misogyny in the Fashion Industry
Fault is an A3 visual, typographic, and written exploration into the misogyny holding up the fashion industry. The title is inspired by the need for accountability by fashion houses and brands, and the often-misplaced blame on customers as the central perpetrators of the industry’s wrongdoings.
Through its bright experimental style, it explores key systemic issues in the sector including the exploitation of models and the limitations women often face when progressing into senior design careers. The physical edition also features hand-stitched typography, which offers an immersive experience, forcing readers to consider the level of precision and effort that goes into stitching, and by extension, clothes-making. To add another dimension to ‘unearth’ featured in the magazine’s title, Fault is bound shut upon presentation, forcing the reader to physically delve into and unpick the seams of the book in order to unearth the truth.
