An art exhibition has opened at AUB, exhibiting Foundation students’ matchbox art.

The opening of the exhibition also saw prizes given to some of the students for their work showcased in the exhibition.

In the matchbox art category, first prize was given to Joy Harker for her work, which depicted a man fishing on a river bank. There were also a number of prizes awarded to runners-up.

Tim Edgar, Head of Preparation for HE, encouraged people to visit the exhibition. He commented: “As part of their ‘Exploratory’ stage of the course, AUB Foundation Students were asked to make a piece of Matchbox Art responding to a random word they selected. The standard this year has been exceptional, with many students thinking outside the box, expanding the scale and use of materials. This exercise involves exploration of modelmaking, fine art, graphics, interior architecture and design and is therefore an excellent brief for this stage of their education.”

The exhibition will be running in B Block at AUB until 15 February 2019.
