You’ll be guided through the process of taking your ideas from a simple concept and turning them into fully realised, 3D-printable designs.

About this course

This exciting new course will teach you how to use Blender, a powerful and widely used 3D modelling application popular with independent designers, artists, and makers. You’ll be guided through the process of taking your ideas from a simple concept and turning them into fully realised, 3D-printable designs.

You’ll be expertly guided by your tutor Kuch through both beginner-friendly and more advanced techniques using Blender, making this the perfect starting point for anyone looking to explore the world of 3D design and 3D printing.

Throughout the course, you’ll gain an overview of Blender’s core tools and workflows as applicable to 3D modelling and printing. This includes navigating the interface, understanding best practices, modelling fundamentals, sketching and blocking out forms, extruding, sculpting, and surface modelling.

You’ll also be introduced to the core concepts of 3D printing, including how to prepare models for print, an introduction to slicing software such as Cura, an overview of different types of 3D printers, and the opportunity to bring your digital designs to life through 3D printing.

Will I be assessed?

No, there's no formal assessment. As the course progresses your tutor will measure your overall performance and offer essential guidance and feedback so you know how you're getting on.

Beginners or anyone with some experience who want to refresh or develop their skills further.

None – this is an introductory course. We have no formal academic entry requirements for our short courses.
