About this course

This innovative 10-week course will teach you how to use  Fusion 360, an industry-standard software for 3D modelling, and you'll be guided to take your ideas from a simple concept and turn them into 3D-printable designs.

You'll be expertly guided by your tutor through both simple and more advanced techniques using Fusion 360, making this the perfect starting point for anyone wishing to explore the world of 3D Design and 3D Printing. 

Throughout the course you'll be provided with an overview of the basic operations within Fusion 360. This includes exploring the interface, best practices, sketching, extruding, sculpting and surface modelling.

Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modelling, CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB software platform for professional product design and manufacturing. You can use it to design and engineer products to your exact specifications and aesthetics, including form, fit, and function.

You'll also be introduced to the core concepts of 3D Printing. This includes learning how to prepare files, introducing slicing software such as Cura Slicing, introduction to different types of printers and you'll have the opportunity to 3D print your designs.

  • Be able to prepare a file for 3D printing
  • Understand and have developed a range of 3D modelling techniques that you feel confident using to create your products
  • Have a sound understanding of different materials
  • Be confident designing in 3D and taking your ideas from concept through to finished product
  • Have increased confidence in your own skills and feel inspired
  • Have boosted creativity and imagination
  • Be encouraged to experiment and explore your ideas, remembering that there's no right or wrong way to be creative
  • Possess the foundations to continue creating beyond this course
