This course will run from September 2025.
The FdA Esports Production, Broadcasting and Events course is designed for creative and technical-minded students with an interest in digital broadcasting and media production. While esports is a key focus, the course equips you with versatile skills applicable to a wide range of broadcasting roles. Through hands-on learning and exposure to industry-standard tools and techniques, you'll develop the technical, creative, and collaborative skills needed to thrive in today’s digital media landscape.
Course overview
FdA Esports Production, Broadcasting and Events offers a comprehensive curriculum covering digital media production, content creation, broadcasting, and event management. You'll explore the full spectrum of production processes, from pre-production planning and camera work to post-production editing and on-screen graphics.
Teaching is delivered through a blend of lectures, seminars, practical workshops, and project-based work. The course is designed to foster both independent and collaborative learning, providing you with opportunities to specialise in areas of personal interest within the field of digital media.
In the first year, you'll begin by building foundational skills in media production, exploring the workflows, technical skills, and theoretical knowledge needed to succeed in digital broadcasting. Modules cover areas such as studio production, video editing, and research methods. You'll also engage with the cultural and ethical dimensions of digital media and esports.
Then in the second year, the focus shifts towards more advanced applications, including the development of professional practice and digital marketing skills. You'll work on more complex projects, gaining practical experience in the production and management of digital media content. Although the course emphasises esports, you'll develop broadcast skills that are highly transferable across the broader digital media and creative industries.
By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
- Produce and deliver high-quality digital content across multiple platforms.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of production techniques for broadcast media, beyond the specific context of esports.
- Apply critical understanding of the ethical, cultural, and commercial aspects of digital broadcasting.
- Use industry-standard software and tools for video production, editing, and visual design.
- Collaborate effectively in creative and technical teams, managing end-to-end production projects.
- Build a professional portfolio that showcases a broad skill set, applicable across the digital media and broadcast sectors.
Entry requirements
All applicants should have level 3 qualifications including at least one ‘creative’ subject. We're looking for 48 UCAS points.
Applicants who fall outside this tariff may be considered.
English Language requirements
The course is taught in English.
Academic IELTS overall score of 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in each band (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
Please note that we're unable to consider students for this course who would require a student visa to study in the UK.
