Throughout my time at AUB I have gained a broad knowledge in historical and theatrical costume making for both womenswear and menswear.
My final year on this course has given me the opportunity to complete two very different projects. The first project I completed was a Tudor doublet and my most recent project was a pantomime dame costume.
I constructed a 1585 women’s doublet for the Costume Society’s Patterns of Fashion Award. This garment was constructed entirely by hand, and although a challenge it was something I massively enjoyed creating and learning about.
During my final project, I created a boudoir costume for one of Cinderella’s Ugly Stepsisters, which will be held in AUB’s Costume Store for a future production. I constructed cage panniers, a bodice, bloomers, hip pad, nightcap and dressing gown for this character.
Plans after degree
After AUB I am moving to Glasgow to study for a Master's degree in Dress and Textiles History. I will hopefully specialise in Tudor and Stuart fashion and work in the art market once I have completed this.
