What you need to know

Monday 3 February – 7 April 2025 (10 Mondays, 18.00-21.00)

Please be aware, you’ll be expected to undertake some self-study and additional project work between course sessions to support your development throughout the course. Ensure you'll have time for this.

Age

Suitable for adults aged 18+.

Level

Beginners or anyone with some experience who want to refresh or develop their skills further.

Experience or qualifications required

None – this is an introductory course. We have no formal academic entry requirements for our short courses.

This course is recommended if you’re currently working in a related field and are looking to develop your skillset. Equally, it’s the perfect companion course to our other business short courses, Social Media for Business and Digital Marketing – an Introduction to enable you to progress your skills further.

About this course

Get the mindset, the confidence, and the skills that you need to ensure you stand out in a rapidly growing industry of digital media content creation. This 10-week course is designed for anyone with an interest in, and fascination for, creating exciting, relevant, and engaging digital content.

You'll explore case studies of successful brands within the social media space and learn how to analyse and adapt, as well as how to use images, fonts, colours, and branding within the content creation space. Equally, you’ll examine marketing and content space from a psychology perspective and understand why certain things work and others don’t. You’ll take your findings and apply psychology in a beneficial way for consumers and brands.

Throughout the course you'll build your overall knowledge of social media management and content creation for businesses and influencers. You'll develop and understanding of how social media content can make or break a brand and learn how to creatively identify and implement new campaign ideas.

You'll learn how to analyse a brand tone of voice and personality, strategise the most effective way to market a brand on social media, and how to effectively create content for different media channels. You'll also have the chance to work on your own content creation ideas and projects that will develop and advance during the course, with close guidance and support from your expert tutor.

Will I be assessed?

No, there is no formal assessment. As the course progresses your tutor will measure your overall performance from your practical tasks, assignments, and portfolio work, and will offer essential guidance and feedback, so you know how you're getting on. You’ll also regularly group share your work and learn from your peers.
