Jamie Yeates

Career Academic for BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, MA Illustration, BA Graphic Design, PGCE (HE), FHEA.

Over the past decade, Jamie has driven the development of information modelling, rendering, and visual presentation within design and communication courses, notably within the BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design.

Specialising in integrating traditional hand-drawn methods with cutting-edge technology in visual programming and XR, Jamie advocates for the enhancement of visual narrative communication through technological innovation. At the heart of Jamie’s work is his innovative approach to portraiture. He uses simple line work and abstract arrangements to capture the human form within its environment.

The anonymity of his subjects serves as a powerful narrative device, bridging the personal and the universal. This unique approach offers profound insights into the shared human experience, making Jamie’s work universally appealing. Jamie’s artwork is a striking fusion of organic and digital elements, characterised by intricate mark-making and three-dimensional forms. This fusion creates a dynamic tension, a unique quality of his pieces, between technological precision and artistic expression.

His pieces invite audiences to engage with fragments of conversation, prompting reflections on the complexities of human experience.

Plans after degree

Jamie’s MA in Illustration has established a foundation for practice-based research in three-dimensional drawing and immersive storytelling. His work aims to create a sense of anonymity and intimacy, thereby enhancing viewer engagement.

The potential for his work to reach broader audiences and have a significant impact in public contexts underscores the importance of context and audience in his practice. This consideration will inform his future endeavours, including a practice-based PhD.
