Dr Christian Edwardes

Course Leader – Illustration

BA Fine Art, MA Fine Art (Painting), PhD

Christian is an artist and researcher based in Dorset. He completed his PhD at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2016. He co-edited Non-Representation and the Creative Arts with Candice Boyd, published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2019.

He has exhibited nationally and internationally, recent shows include: ‘Making Plans’ at Bank Street Arts in Sheffield; ‘Temples to the Domestic II’, curated by Dave Ben White at Clifford Chance HQ, London; ‘The Art of Walking’ at WORK Gallery, London; ‘Drawing Lines in the Sand’, an off-site project curated by Claire Taylor and Peloton Gallery, in Sydney, Australia; and ‘Dust’, a work commissioned for the Arts by the Sea Festival, Bournemouth. His work has appeared in two recent publications, ‘Critical Dictionary’ and ‘The Art of Walking’ edited by David Evans and produced by Black Dog Publishing. His research interests include the mobility and materiality of landscape representations in and through objects such as souvenirs and postcards. These objects have often been part of the iconography of recent site-based artworks.
